Omeega

Operational leadership and engineering for the content creator and streamer Omeega, including team management and solution development.

Omeega event visualization.

Overview

A comprehensive role combining operational management and lead engineering for Omeega, a content creator and streamer organizing interactive live events. Responsible for coordinating a team of 15 and delivering the technical aspects of custom game modes.

Why it matters

Live events with streamers and large player bases allow for zero downtime or failure. This role requires balancing technical stability (server ops, custom plugins) with live operations management (moderation, team coordination) in a high-pressure environment.

Key capabilities

  • Event Engineering: Development of custom game mechanics, including the “All Items” event which supported 40 simultaneous players/streamers.
  • Live Operations: Coordination of a 15-person team covering everything from event creation to moderation.
  • Interactive Systems: Creation of chat-controlled gameplay modes (like Twitch Plays Pokemon).

Technical approach

  • Real-Time Sync: Built Bukkit plugins enabling two-way synchronization between in-game actions and Google Sheets for live scoring and tracking.
  • Custom GUIs: Developed complex in-game interfaces for inventory tracking and progress visualization.
  • Resilience: Managed server performance constraints (single-threaded Minecraft limitations) to maintain playability during peak loads.

Role

Operations Manager and Lead Developer. Solely responsible for the codebase and technical infrastructure while leading the operational staff.

Outcomes

  • Event Success: Multiple major events successfully executed with high participation and engagement (+2000 concurrent viewers).
  • Future Plans: New projects are underway with the team to introduce innovative event formats.
